A website called Locavore365 is challenging everyone in the world (who has the Internet) to make a change in how they eat. The website has a search tool which allows you to find fresh foods grown or made within a 100 mile radius of virtually wherever you are on the planet. You can narrow down the the search to within walking distance of location and the site boasts many different kinds of food-creating destinations from community gardens to family-owned farms. The “Locavore Challenge” — which the site encourages all new users to take asks you to live 365 days eating local food alone. Calling itself a “green social networking tool with a point,” Locavore365 is an interesting combination of the global availability of information provided by the Internet and a goal to bring create closer communities that are self-sustaining and independent. This sounds like a really useful tool — even if you aren’t ready to commit to complete locavorous eating, you can’t deny how good those local heirloom tomatoes are tasting right now.

Brilliant, I actually used this website, and swapped some tomotoes with a neighbour I didn’t know previously for some carrots.
Got some fresh veg, and made a new friend!
