It’s lucky number 7 for Chef Jose Garces as he plans to open his 7th Philadelphia restaurant in the Cira Center this month. Everything on JG Domestic’s menu will be sourced from the U.S., we’re told — a boast that’s simultaneously strange and impressive and sad that it has to be made in the first place. Chef Garces, working alongside Chef de Cuisine Dave Conn, have sourced the best quality items from around the country and have created a contemporary menu that will change daily. The menu will feature a section called “Tonight”, which will highlight seasonal dishes such as Atalantic Big Eye Tuna, and Roasted Suckling Pennsylvania Lamb. In Chef Garces’s regular fashion, there will also be a five-course Chef’s Tasting Menu, as well as snacks such as Heirloom Crimson Popcorn with Cheddar and Horseradish. Along with American-made wines, beers, and other spirits, even the cocktails will feature farm-fresh ingredients. Chef Garces is so committed to serving his guests the freshest ingredients available that he has recently purchased a 40-acre farm in Bucks County, which will provide an ample amount of the seasonal fruits and vegetables served at JG Domestic as early as Fall 2011.

With 175 seats, the interior of JG Domestic will have a “Living Wall” composed of herbs, plants and other greenery. The wall stands to reflect Chef Garces’s mission of “serving distinctive domestic products in one of Philadelphia’s most beautiful and welcome settings.” There will also be a communal table that will feature three living trees, as well as the “Chef’s Nook” dining room. The “Chef’s Nook” will have seating for up to 12 and will include views of Chef Garces and Chef Conn working in the kitchen.

Along with J.G. Domestic set to open this month, Chef Garces has been keeping busy with projects that include Guapos Tacos (a Mexican food truck which we have been eagerly anticipating since Meal Ticket told us about it last month) and Frohman’s Wursthaus, a beer-and-bratwursts spot. At this rate, where does he even find the time to be Iron Chef?
