Khyber Reincarnates As Khyber Pass Pub, Which We Never Stopped Calling It Anyway After The Reincarnation Before This One

The Khyber Pass Pub’s gumbo.

The Khyber Khyber Pass Pub released some details this week about their new menu, and what we were hearing in September was way off. The new kitchen at Khyber Pass Pub will feature regional Southern favorites, instead of the izakaya persona that was rumored. Chef Mark McKinney will be cooking up a menu that exudes soul while staying true to tradition. The new menu will include dishes like Gulf oysters, shrimp, po-boys, crawfish and blue crabs (in season). Also offered are sides like cornbread and fried green tomatoes. However, we are underwhelmed by the offerings of burgers, wings, and “other American bar foods.” Hopefully, the menu will live up to its promise of being “steeped in the flavors of the South while the blackboard specials will put a new twist on old favorites.” No word on any beer selections, but with a menu like that we can only cross our fingers and hope for some Abita beers on tap.

A preview menu will be offered now through November 17th, and the new menu will be served beginning November 18th. The kitchen will be open from 11am – 1am.
