From Old City Cheese Shop Comes Wedge + Fig

cheeseFrom the closure of Old City Cheese Shop (much-beloved to us, btw) and Flying Monkey Patisserie comes new life. Naked Philly reports the Old City Cheese Shop (160 North Third Street) will be re-christened Wedge + Fig. The new cheese and sandwich eatery, run by married couple Kirk Nelson and Lisa Ruff, along with former owner of Flying Monkey Patisserie Rebecca Torpie, looks to open its doors later this month, according to the Old City Civic Association.

Nelson, Ruff, and Torpie told Naked Philly that Wedge + Fig will offer lunches and salads made from mainly fresh ingredients, a large variety of retail cheese, and a BYOB option for customers. Plus, “the garden in the back,” Torpie promised, “is the perfect setting for light fare in the evening. Bring a bottle of your favorite wine or ale and sample the cheese, bruschetta and other offerings.” Having loved this feature ourselves back in the OCCS days, we can attest. It’s a beaut.
