Square 1682′s Third Annual Cheesesteak Challenge Will Separate The Best From The Rest

At this year’s Square 1682 Cheesesteak Challenge (subtitled High Steaks, because puns), a bunch of a local chefs will be charged with creating the best cheesesteak they can, with proceeds benefiting The Philadelphia Academies. The $25 admission price gets you cheesesteaks from all chefs, including:

>>>Chef David Boyle (Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse)
>>>Chef Wayne Whiteside (Aksum Mediterranean Kitchen, University City, PHL)
>>>Chef de Cuisine Natalie Maranski (Chifa)
>>>Chef John Brandt-Lee (Avalon, West Chester, PA)
>>>Chef Thomas Dunklin (B&O American Brasserie, Baltimore, MD)
>>>Joe Hunt (Alfa American Tavern)
>>>Paul Trowbridge (Devil’s Den)
>>>Chef de Cuisine Caitlin Mateo (Square 1682)
>>>Executive Chef Guillermo Tellez (Red Owl Tavern)

The Judge’s Choice winner will be decided upon by WMMR’s Matt Cord, Tony Luke, Kristina Jenkins (Where Magazine), Marlie Hall (PHL -17), and author Carolyn Wyman, while the People’s Choice winner will be crowned by those in attendance. The event takes place October 14th, from 2PM to 5PM, and tickets can be purchased over here.
