Shake Shack Going All Starbucks On Us?

Shake ShackThe Burger n’ Fries gods have spoken: “City of Brotherly Love, thou shalt have more Shake Shack!”

You heard right folks. The nouveau and quirky small chain of Shake Shack, part of NYC restaurant guru Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, will be expanding their sweet and salty empire by adding two more locations in the Philadelphia area.

SS’s all-natural and no-nonsense approach to burgers and fries, along with flat top hot dogs, shakes, and frozen custard, has lured hungry Philadelphians with its siren song since June 2012, when the Philly’s first location opened up in our beloved Rittenhouse Square.

We can see it now: all the Philly burger addicts are rubbing their salt laden hands together, uttering a greedy “Muahahaha” to themselves.

So what’s the lineup?

Ivy leaguers at Penn and Drexel dwellers will be stoked to grab a ShackBurger and fries at the two-story University City location (specifically Chestnut Square), opening in late Summer 2013. Hopefully their grub-down won’t ruin their Brooks’ Brothers shirts.
In addition, KOP, will not only be the home of the gargantuan shopping Mecca that is King of Prussia Mall. Come Fall 2013, the burger hotspot will be available to shopaholics and diner food fiends.

But the buck, er- bovine doesn’t stop there. Shake Shack will sail the seven seas as it plans to open up seven international locations, including London and Istanbul.
And with that, let’s celebrate in anticipation of SS’s new bundles of joy: head down to Rittenhouse Square’s Shake Shack and see what’s shakin’.
