Just an update. I used my card at 1601 last night. My PENDING transaction today is for $14.40. My charge was $12 and I wrote in a $4 tip making it $16. 20% of $12 is $2.40. It’s quite obvious that the card company holds a 20% tip to make sure it can get covered while it is pending. When the tip clears it’ll go in as $16.00 not $14.40 or $18.40. I guarantee that this is exactly what happened with the girl who started this whole debacle but she’ll never confess to it because she looks like a dumb ass.

If you go to the PLCB Product Search page and search on keyword Puligny they list 3 pages of wines from the region. Most of them are only available by special order, but it’s unfair to expect the PLCB to stock a large number of a “pricey and rare” wine. If you search the wines McInerny mentions in the article on winesearcher.com, you will find that they are difficult to track down across the whole country. A good alternative to the expensive Puligny-Montrachet is the Joseph Drouhin Saint Veran White Bugundy (PLCB Code 30926) still available at 11.99 at the Franklin Mills store.

clearly going for the same audience as Garces Trading. how are we doing the “local, artisan farmed” thing if we’re also doing the “Mediterranean” thing? this locality is very much NOT the Mediterranean. you read through that menu and it’s a big list of shit that is very certainly not being farmed here. you don’t get to just say “oh, we’re emphasizing locally sourced foods” and then have a totally non-american menu theme.
